Phil Trow Returns 'home'

Breakfast Radio presenter, Phil Trow formerly of Radio Manchester and Radio Lancashire, now the morning anchor for Radio Derby returned 'home' on Friday 1st July when he officially opened The Greenfield Flower Festival.

Phil was born in Urmston and attended Greenfield Junior Church with his brother and his mother, Ann, a former Deacon at Greenfield.

Phil cut the yellow ribbon supported by an eager crowd anxious to view the flower displays.  Each display took as its theme a modern Gospel song chosen for their emphasis on the subject of light.

Trafford Mayor Visits Bloomin' Good Show

Mayor of Trafford 'Buttonholed'.

Cllr Ken Weston, the Mayor of Trafford was first through the door when the Greenfield Flower Festval opened on July 1st.

Festival organiser, Pat Smales, presented The Mayor with a floral buttonhole and a posy of flowers for his Mayoress who was detained on other duties.

Touring the displays Cllr Weston met the representatives of St Clement's Parish Church and Our Lady of the Rosary and English Martyrs, who had joined with Greenfield Church to pack the hall with flowers.

The Flower Show is open until 2.30pm Sunday 4th July when a Festival of Praise will be lead by Greenfield's Minister, Stephen Smith.

Mayor and Mayoress to visit Greenfield

Flower Festival Honoured.

When the Greenfield Flower Festival opens at 2pm on Thursday 1st July first through the door will be The Worshipful the Mayor of the Borough of Trafford and his Mayoress, Cllr Ken Weston and Mrs Marilyn Lucas JP.

Although both are active in community affairs in Trafford it will be their first visit to Greenfield Church.  'We can promise them a warm 'Greenfield' welcome', said Festival Organiser, Mrs Patricia Smales, 'We have much to celebrate in this corner of Trafford, particularly the town centre development, which will bring many new people into the area. Our Flower Festival will show that the churches in Urmston are alive and well and keen to work together for the good of the community.'

The Festival, 'Let Your Light Shine Over Urmston' is supported by St. Clement's Parish Church, Greenfield Church and The Holy Rosary and English Martyrs Church.

'Light' Theme Chosen for Festival of Flowers.

Urmston town centre churches are coming together to mount a flower festival from 1st to 4th July at Greenfield Church.

Flower arrangers from Greenfield Church, St.Clement's Parish Church and The Holy Rosary and English Martyrs Church will each develop the theme using a modern gospel song as their inspiration.

A children's flower arranging competion will run alongside the festival - prizes to be presented at the closing festival service on Sunday 4th July at 2pm.

GREENFIELDERS PREPARE FOR LIFT-OFF.

As part of their celebrations for Penetcost, members of Greenfield released helium balloons each with a personal message for the finder. Trusting to the wind and the Holy Spirit the balloons offered a free copy of St.Mark's Gospel to anyone who found a balloon and contacted the church.
